Apex. is an AI-powered legal training platform operated by BARBRI. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the platform, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the marketing site and the learner and administrator portals at simulation.aarondewald.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to run the platform:
- Account information — your name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
- Training activity — the simulations you attempt, your responses (typed and spoken), and the feedback generated for you.
- Voice recordings — audio you record during voice-based simulation phases is transcribed so the simulation can respond. Recordings are processed for transcription and are not used to build voice profiles.
- Usage data — basic technical information such as pages viewed and approximate session times, used to keep the platform reliable.
- Billing information — if you subscribe, payments are handled by our payment processor; we never store your full card number.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the training simulations, including generating AI character responses and personalized feedback.
- Show you your own progress and history.
- Operate, secure, and improve the platform.
- Communicate with you about your account or support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your simulation responses to advertise to you.
4. AI Processing
Simulations are powered by third-party AI services: conversational responses, speech-to-text transcription, and text-to-speech audio are generated by external providers under contractual confidentiality obligations. Your responses are sent to these providers only as needed to run your simulation and generate your feedback.
5. Sharing
We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us operate the platform (hosting, AI processing, payments), bound to use it only on our behalf.
- Your organization's administrators, if your access is provided through an employer or school, who may see your training progress.
- Authorities, where required by law.
6. Retention and Security
We keep your account and training history while your account is active so you can review past attempts and feedback. We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
7. Your Choices
- You can use text input instead of voice in any simulation phase.
- You can update your profile information from your account settings.
- You can request a copy or deletion of your data by contacting us.
